Momo, what’s your best memory of your time at Sclessin?
Well, of course, that must be the two titles that we won with our team. I have a slight preference for the first title under the leadership of Michel Preud’homme (2007-2008) because we managed to end a long period without a title. It also gave a fantastic feeling to dive into the night with our fans after the deciding title game. What a party it was!
We often talk about the magic of Sclessin. Why is Standard so unique?
I’m not going to be quite original, but that magic finds its origin in the supporters. Standard is unique because it can count on warm-blooded fans who always stand behind their club, whatever happens. And they are oh so fanatic when it comes to their club.
You played in your career with a number of top players. Who stood out for you?
There are actually quite a lot of them. But if I have to limit it to a small number, I would like to quote Marouane Fellaini, Dieumerci Mbokani and Milan Jovanovic.
And if you could put together an ideal team with players with whom you played during your active career?
Espinoza – Marcos, Oguchi Onyewu, Paolo Maldini, Dante – Maroune Fellaini, Axel Witsel, Andrea Pirlo – Milan Jovanovic, Dieumerci Mbokani, Andriy Shevchenko
